Laptop excitment

So I posted earlier in december about the excitement am having with my laptop. Yesterday was the big cleaning day, which is pretty much the last thing I can try and do on my own. I took a few pictures along the way and thought I would share some of the experience.


This was basically the first step in the process. I popped a number of keys off with little to no problems. I sprayed the whole thing done with a contact cleaner designed for circuit boards and delicate equipment. Then brushed the whole thing with Q-tips and let me tell you that whats under the keyboard can be scary.


It didn't work, so I dug deeper in to the laptop, unscrewing about a half dozen different sized screws. More things where sprayed and brushed out and hoped for the best. Saddly the situation is still the same the space bar, the ' and " key as well as the ; and : key just don't work.

Now to decide what to do next...

Laptop woes...

So December 1st, the day after NANOwrimo I was sitting at my desk slaving away on the laptop and trying to get a few more questions in on the project. I had a glass of grape juice much to close to the laptop which I tapped ever so gentle. Which caused about a spoonful to leap out of the cup in to the keyboard. Grabbing paper tools I dried it as quick as I could and as much as I could. I also blasted the area with canned air to try and blow any liquid out. Then put it away to let it dry. Before doing that I tested all the keys and they worked.

Tonight I started it up and it seemed to be fine until I tried the space bar and got nothing.. I ran through all the keys again, the ; and the ' and spacebar were toast. So at this point I am back on the desk top exploring what my options are and planning to make some phone calls tomorrow.
